NCSM Research Collection Database

Project Overview

July 2008

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Research Collection approached Information, Inc. to develop an application to search their Amphibians and Reptiles, Fishes and Invertebrates collections. Collections can be searched via a quick or full search.

What We Did

Information, Inc. developed a custom, online database to allow for search and retrieval of research collection records. In addition to the general collection information, the Fishes database contains a mapping component to map the collection location for the record. Collection information is available to the public via the online database as well as via DIGIR record server.

How We Did It

The online database was created using Microsoft SQL Server and ASP.net technologies. The Fishes mapping component was developed using the Google Maps API.
